How to help with the choice without pressure

Choosing a career at 14–18 isn’t one decision for life — it’s a series of tries. TANYM helps a teen put into words what gives them energy and find a first step. Your support makes that step possible.

Support

What helps and what gets in the way

Helps

  • Ask what was interesting and what they would like to try
  • Discuss the suggested directions and choose one to explore
  • Help make time and find materials for a small activity
  • Offer to arrange a conversation with someone in that profession
  • Support them if they want to explore a different direction

Gets in the way

  • Choosing a career for them or comparing them with others
  • Dismissing their interests as unimportant
  • Demanding a final decision straight after the conversation
  • Reading their conversation without permission

Honestly

What TANYM is — and what it isn’t

It is

  • — An AI mentor for talking about yourself and your choices
  • — A way to find paths worth testing
  • — A pointer to a first step: a 20–40 minute task

It isn’t

  • — A psychologist or a doctor
  • — A test with a “right” answer
  • — A decision made for your child, or a verdict

Safety and data

How we look after teens

  • Data on the device

History and results are saved in the child’s browser. Deleting the local copy does not delete data held by the AI provider; research ratings have a separate deletion request.
  • No personal details

Full names, phone numbers, addresses and schools are not needed for the conversation. The filter masks some details entered by accident but cannot guarantee detection.
  • AI service

The pilot uses Railway for the app and Railway for the database outside Kazakhstan. Messages are processed by the AI provider; provider retention and hosting logs are described in the policy.
  • If things are hard

If there are signs in the conversation that a teen is not okay, TANYM gently stops and shows the helpline numbers 150, 111 and 112.

Features that would need contact details or contact with adults outside the service are turned on for under-18s only with a parent’s consent.

Parents’ questions

Frequently asked questions

Does my child need my consent to talk to TANYM?

Users under 18 need permission from a parent or legal guardian to use TANYM. No account is required. Messages are processed by an AI provider; details are in the data policy.

Do you read the chats?

The team does not receive conversations for research review. An AI provider processes messages to generate replies. No specialist monitors the chat live; TANYM is not an emergency service.

What if TANYM suggests the “wrong” thing?

That’s normal. The result is a set of guesses, not a decision. Each path needs to be tested for real: that’s what the 20–40 minute task is for. If the interest fades after it, that’s a useful answer too.

Can we go through the conversation together?

You can, but it’s better to let your child speak in their own words and not suggest “right” answers. It’s much more useful to discuss the result afterwards — and help with the task for the week.

Are there ads?

There are no advertising trackers or advertising profiles. If partner offers ever appear in the service, they will be clearly labelled “Partner”, with a free alternative next to them.

What should I do if my child is struggling?

If there are signs in the conversation that a teen is not okay, TANYM stops the career conversation and shows helpline numbers: 150, 111 and 112. The service doesn’t replace a real adult — talk to your child and, if needed, reach out to a specialist.

See for yourself

Open an example result or try the conversation — it’s the easiest way to understand what your child will be talking about.
