FAQ

Questions and answers

If your question isn’t here, check the “How it works” page or ask an adult you trust.

For teens

Is this a test?

No. There are no “a, b, c” options and your answers aren’t graded. You talk in your own words, by text or voice, and the AI mentor asks one question at a time and listens.

How long does it take?

A usual conversation takes about 15 minutes. You can pause it and come back later: it’s saved on your device for 30 days after you last open the app.

Do I need to sign up?

No. No account, no email, no phone number. We only ask your age — so we can talk to you in a way that fits you.

Will the AI tell me what to be?

No. At the end you’ll see up to three paths — guesses to test, not a verdict. Each one comes with an explanation in your own words, and you can mark any path “That’s not me”. AI can make mistakes, so paths are tested for real.

What’s the 20–40 minute task?

A small real thing you can do this week: for example, draw a poster for a school event or figure out how your favourite website is built. Afterwards you can tell us how it went and see whether it gives you energy or not.

Who sees my answers?

History is saved in the browser, while messages are processed by an AI provider. The pilot uses Railway and a Railway database outside Kazakhstan. Research ratings require separate consent. Full names, contacts and school details are not needed; automatic masking of details entered by accident can miss them.

How do I delete my data?

Settings can delete local history and separately request deletion of the current research record. Wait for server confirmation before clearing the browser: without the identifier, the record cannot be located. This does not delete hosting logs or data held by the AI provider.

Is TANYM a psychologist?

No. TANYM is an AI, not a psychologist or a doctor. If things are hard for you right now, call the free helpline 150 or 111, and if you’re in danger right now, call 112. And be sure to tell an adult you trust.

What age is it for?

TANYM is made for teens aged 14 and over and for college students. If you’re not 14 yet, come back a bit later — or talk about your choice with your parents, a teacher or the school counsellor.

What language can I use?

Russian, Kazakh or English. You can pick the site language in the header or in settings, and during the conversation you can switch to another language at any time — the mentor will reply in that language too.

Are you a parent? Parents’ questions

The rest is easier to understand in a conversation

You can start with “I don’t know” — that’s fine.
